My pleasure with my pancake pan knows no bounds. Here are three more, very different, pancake recipes for you to try out this Tuesday, Pancake Day. One for breakfast, one for lunch and one sweet perfumed Egyptian delight to scoff after last week’s chickpea pancake recipe which you’ll be making for dinner! Thanks accepted in all currencies.

Chickpea pancake and a new love in my life.

Pancake Day is a mere glance away and the shelves are beginning to sag under the weight of pancake mixes. Before you rush off and batter up spend a moment to think about all the wonderful different types of pancakes you can make and not just for Pancake Day! We often have breakfast pancakes on the weekend and here’s a spicy, gluten-free savoury pancake that’s begging to be made regularly. Oh, and in the process of making it I fell in love.

Post image for Hot Smokin’ Sticky Food for Lovers: spare ribs to share

Valentine’s Day. Full of fakery or the real deal? Whichever way you look at it you can’t escape it. What I can’t abide are the ‘food for lovers’ deals the supermarkets offer, all safe and boring. Here’s what I call lovers’ food, full of spice and flavour. The sort of finger lickin’ messy pleasure that sets pulses racing. All on a plate to share. Proper love food.

Spicy slow-braised goat

If you’re looking for an alternative to lamb why not try your hand at this slow-braised goat casserole. Spicy and flavoursome it’s just the job to keep you warm and cheery during these grey, damp days. Plus it’s lower in cholesterol and fat than chicken!

Post image for A trifling dessert to end 2011: Chocolate & Pear Trifle

I’m not a huge dessert fan but I do like trifle and I do like chocolate and I quite fancied having an easy alternative to Christmas Pudding for Christmas Dinner. This chocolate, boozy trifle (can there be any other sort?) was a hit on the day and was even better a day or so after! It’s one I’ll be making again for sure.
