Celebrate St Patrick’s Day next weekend with 24 hours of Irish flavours. To get you started I’ve illustrated some recipe guides for you to download, print off and follow. Begin with my favourite bread, Irish Brown Soda Bread that you butter thickly with lovely (Irish) butter and, my preference, a good marmalade. That should set you up and see you through to lunchtime.

The Balham Food Festival kicked off on Sunday with the Big Launch. This looks like it’ll be an event that will be repeated. The crowds appeared and happily ate and drank from stalls showcasing all the wonderful food destinations in this South London ‘village’. This is a brief photographic report of the afternoon.
